SSL VPN is a way of creating a private secure tunnel through the public Internet simply by using a standard web browser, such as Internet Explorer.

The beauty of the technology is that you can connect to a corporate network, and access that network’s resources, securely and safely from anywhere in the world via a simple browser login. All you need is an Internet connection, and a username and password.

Billion BiGuard OTP 2-factor authentication tokens

Designed to work with the BiGuard series of SSL VPN appliances (S5, S10, S20 and the new S3000 and S6000), Billion now offer BiGuard OTP (One Time Password) 2-factor authentication tokens.

The tokens allow users to create strong, 2-factor authentication by using a dynamically generated 6-digit PIN, and combine this with an existing static password.

Prior to launching the authentication system, administrators are required to synchronize each BiGuard OTP token with an ASAS RADIUS-standard server which stores the ESN of each token.

The ASAS server software comes bundled with the OTP tokens and provides administrators with a friendly management interface, which includes account management and adding new tokens via a simple web browser operation. Even if the token is lost or stolen, it can not be operated by anyone without knowledge of the existing static username and password.

BiGuard OTP comes in 2, 5 or 10 user pack formats. The 2 user starter pack retails for around £59 + VAT.
