Snr adjustment

Post by nonerd »

Hello all and please be gentle as im no computer nerd! I have just purchased the billion 8800nl on adsl and got it up and running, All seems ok although has dropped connection in first 24 hrs which my old cheap router never did. Anyway back to my question, I am approx 2km from my exchange on adsl 2+ and normally get around 11.5mb on a speed test which i hope to increase a little using the snr adjustment. If i adjust by 4 i beleive this should lower the snr by 2db but if the line drops do you have to log into the router everytime and adjust it again ? Like i say this is all new to me and prob past all the jargon due to my age. Thanks for any replys.

No, assuming it works the same way as the 7800DXL it will maintain the SNR you have set. I used to keep my 7800DXL on a 4dB margin and it worked pretty well.
