Configuring the 5th Ethernet Port (8800AXL)

Post by ricke17 »

Hello,

How do I configure the 5th ethernet port (the red one EWAN)? And if configured is it a gigabit ethernet like the other 4?

Cheers,

Rick.

If you want to use it as a fifth Ethernet port, then you don't need to do anything

If you want to use it as a EWAN port, then you must configure a WAN service interface for a 'Ethernet' connection. (Screen shot example attached)

The EWAN/Fifth Ethernet should run at 1000mbps (gigalan)

Great,

Incidentally, page 17 of the online manual (https://au.billion.com/downloads/userma ... M-1-04.pdf) purports that a switch should be (I guess if one uses one) should be used on ethernet 4 - does this mean no further switches should be used or does ethernet 4 do anything "jazzy"!?

Its the same as a standard port, the manual refers to a example network topology (meaning you can plug your switch to any of the 4 Ethernet ports)
