When recording a non IPTV channel there is no problem, but if I record an IPTV channel it does record OK but it makes ALL my lights on my TPLink 1Ghz 5-port switch flash like crazy along with all the lights on the Billion as well and in so doing it disables all communication on the 2.4GGhz wireless channel. The 5Ghz channel seems to be unaffected (which our mobiles use). I only have 2 devices on the 2.4Ghz channel, my Canon printer (which is normally off) and my Medion LifeTab which is where I first noticed it as I only use it occasionally and I just happened to be recording an IPTV channel at the time.

I cannot see how the hard wired BT Youview box can interfere with a the 2.4Ghz wireless channel, so has anybody any ideas as to what the problem can be as I have looked through the Billion settings and nothing is obvious and all wireless settings are on their defaults.

Colin
Try enabling 'Wireless Multicast Forwarding (WMF)' on the 2.4ghz band
I have just tried that and it is still the same with all lights flashing on both TP Link 1Ghz switches and as I said previously both the wireless and LAN port 1 and internal LAN lights on the Billion are also all flashing like mad. I cannot see why the wireless lights are flashing madly as well as the BT Youview box is hard wired with no wireless at all.

But thanks for the suggestion anyway.

Can you try attaching the your you view box directly to the Billion then follow these steps (so we can isolate the port the Bt you view box connects too)

1. Set the IGMP Snooping Mode to 'Blocking Mode' (normal default settings)
2. Click on 'Interface Grouping'
3. Click on 'Add'
4. Under 'Available WAN Interfaces' move both WAN's to the left hand box so both WAN's should be listed 'Grouped WAN Interfaces'
5. Under 'Available LAN Interfaces' select the port your you view box is attached to, and move it to the left so it is listed under 'Grouped LAN Interfaces'
6. Enter a 'Group Name' eg 'IPTV'
7. Click on 'Apply'
8. Click on 'Configuration >> LAN'
9. Change the 'Group Name' to 'IPTV'
10. Change the 'IGMP Snooping Mode' to 'Standard Mode'
11. Click on 'Apply'
12. Restart your you view box

Also another thing to try as the 5ghz band is working, is to try and change the channel the 2.4ghz channel outputs on.

Thanks for you advice I will try it tomorrow if I have time, but I am going on a weeks holiday on Saturday and I will have to dig out a longer network cable (which I think I have) as the Billion and the BT Youview box are about 5mts apart. If not I will try it on my return from holiday and will be back in touch.

Thanks

Colin

PS
Sorry for not getting back to you earlier but I have been rather busy and now I cannot try anyway as I have cancelled my BT TV subscription because of recent BT price rises and have ordered a Sky+HD multi-screen box instead.
