As you are connecting via PPP, make sure the following settings are enteredbillion_fan wrote:Whats listed within the system log?BadMelonFarmer wrote:WAN status says "Connecting"But 3G/ LTE status says it is UP
APN - 3internet
Username - leave blank
Password - leave blank
Also make sure the 'Dial on demand' is not ticked (found at the top of the page for the 3G WAN interface)

Thanks, will check the logs.
Regarding the APN... Doesn't the 8800 ignore that and use the 3G settings on the dongle?

I think when using PPP mode, it uses the APN, username and password entered in the valid sections, as I assume you have a unlocked dongle, the dongle won't know the APN, username and password when switching between sims.BadMelonFarmer wrote:Thanks, will check the logs.

Yes it is definitely unlocked as I toggled between the two carriers often-ish and have never had to alter the APN before when using the 7800DXL.
Will try playing with the APN and get the logs when I get home.
Thanks

Re: 3G / 4G LTE modem support on 8800AXL?
Hi,
think I found the problem.. the USB 3G/LTE WAN configuration interface is slightly different
on the 8800AXL there are 3 available options for "Selected Default Gateway Interfaces" >> "PPPoA, PPP3g0 and USB0" (USB0 was not active)
Whilst on the 7800DXL there are 2 options and they are "PPPoA and USB3Go"
I added USB0 into the active gateways and bang the 4G interface came up with "DirectIP"
will keep this config and see what happens when i change the SIMs back to EE from 3.... and will report back
thanks for the help on this.

No Problem ... thanks for the prompt support ... as ALWAYS!
Quick update . ... still working fine.
Will update findings when I swap SIMs back on the 30th and then on July 3rd once FTTC is live.
as you say hopefully this will help anyone who wants a similar set up

Re: 3G / 4G LTE modem support on 8800AXL?
Just swapped the SIM cards over and it did not work.
Although I had it configured using the USB0 and it was working fine, but on swapping SIMS and switching it back on I got "Connecting" status again, when I looked at the default gateways mentioned above.... the PPP3G0 was back. and no option for USB0 ...but I go now get an option for "USB3GO" which is what was on the 7800 and NOT the 8800AXL before!! ODD!!!
but if I put the USB3G0 into the active gateway I just get a WAN status of "Unknown 3G/LTE card"
very strange considering I used to do the on the 7800 and it worked fine without any config changes.
All i did was disconnect the LTE device ... turn it off swap the SIMs (which both work) turn the LTE device back on and plug it back in to the 8800AXL.
will have to play around to see if I can get it working again
