1.06g problem
Has anyone else had a problem updating to 1.06g? I have tried and the installation goes ahead but when I go into Quick Start to re-enter my username, password etc. the system locks up and I can't get any farther. I have had to restore the settings to 1.06f from a backup.

Re: 1.06g problem
There should be no problems upgrading to firmware 1.06g.
Once you upgrade you should reset to factory default settings, when you do this your username and password is defaulted back to 'admin' and 'admin'.
Did you try the default username and password once you upgraded??
Once you upgrade you have to reconfigure you device again, its not advised to restore settings from previous firmware builds.

Re: 1.06g problem
I appreciate the login passowrd changes. The problem I have is that I select firmware update from the menu, select set to factory defaults, and then browse to the 1.06g update I have downloaded. All appears to go fine, but when the update is complete and I then log back in (using admin/admin) I can enter my ISP username and password, but when I then click on 'Continue' nothing happens, the set-up just sits there. The only button which will do anything is the Restart button, and that takes me back to factory defaults. I did re-install 1.06f successfully, the setup did not hang after entering my ISP details, the router just ran as normal.

Re: 1.06g problem
Were you using the quick start setup?
Try the following
1. Login to the router web configuration page
2. Click on 'WAN' on the left hand column (basic menu)
3. Enter your ISP details
4. Click on 'Apply'
5. The router will now save and reboot
6. You should then have a active internet connection.

Re: 1.06g problem
I've tried that (going in through the WAN option) but when I click on 'Apply' nothing happens. I tried 'updating' using the 1.06f software and the same thing happens.
The only way I can get back to a working setup is by restoring a previously saved configuration, with the 1.06f software in it. (I created the backup some time ago when I first updated to 1.06f.)
Might it be worth trying a hard reset of the router and then updating the software?

Re: 1.06g problem
Not tried with a different browser- I'm using Firefox at the moment. Bit busy for a few days but will try IE9 later in the week.
One thing I have noticed which may or may not be relevant, is that after installing a recent security update from Microsoft (Windows 7) in both Firefox and IE9 the browser interface no longer shows images, only text. Oddly enough on my netbook this has not happened, the interface is still as it was. Might it be worth connecting the netbook to the router by cable and trying the firmware update then? Has anyone else had the same problem with the appearance of the interface?
Thanks for advice, I'll report back later in the week.

Re: 1.06g problem
When you factory reset any router, you're looking at an "out of the box" setup with the wireless yet to be configured, so you'll be using the LAN to connect to the Interface and will need to be wired.ajbrown1946 wrote:Not tried with a different browser- I'm using Firefox at the moment. Re: 1.06g problem
Not tried updating to 1.06g yet but having read some threads on this forum that suggest it may cause problems with the wireless settings on the 7800N I think I'll wait until those problems are resolved.
