I need to find a way of allowing non PPTP based incoming VPN access to my Billion 7800N router. Until recently I have been using an iphone client to connect to the router with PPTP. However Apple have now removed support for PPTP clients in latest version of IOS. I need to continue access via an iphone client, but the Billion 7800N doesn’t appear to offer an alternative compatible protocol e.g. L2TP/IPsec.
Can anyone offer a solution? For example is there a firmware upgrade that I could use on my router which would allow L2TP/IPsec? (My router is running version 1.06h). Or would it be best to buy another router which could offer L2TP/IPsec?

The 7800N will only support PPTP now, the product was discontinued a while back, and hence there will be no feature updates.
As Apple have stopped supporting PPTP, the only option you have now are the following
1. Use a third party app to make a VPN connection
2. Upgrade the 7800N, to a router that supports L2TP/IPsec etc
Our Bipac 8900 series, and Bipac 7800DX/VDOX support L2TP/IPsec

A cheaper option might be to put a raspberry pi behind your router and install OpenVPN on it.
