8800NL r2 Ethernet Issues

Post by twister1264 »

I have two of these routers. One installed at my flat which works perfect but the other one I have installed at my parents house is giving me a lot of grief.

When connecting a device to ETH1 the ETH1 and ETH2 light flashes even though there is nothing connected to ETH2. If I swap them Ethernet cables around and plug into ETH2 the same happens with ETH1 flashes. I've tried another cable too and nothing changes. After a while I cannot access the router through its IP address or nor will it pass internet.

When connecting Ethernet to the other ports the router works fine for a little while and then again freezes up but if I switch off it's WiFi the router seems stable.

I installed the latest firmware then rolled back to an older firmware and nothing changes. I've reset the router on a numerous occasions too.

I've also found that when connecting a wifi access point to an Ethernet port I cannot access the router through the WiFi access point. DHCP switched on router, WiFi access point given a static IP address and for whatever reason I cannot get behind the WiFi to access the router but the internet is working fine.

Very frustrating and odd problems.

Strange issue I haven't seen before (ETH 1 and ETH2 flashing when only ETH 1 is being used) it might be worth returning the device for a replacement as it shouldn't be acting in that manner.

When the access point issue occurs, have you tried to connect a PC to same port using the same cable to see if you can access the web gui of the router?
