Hi guys,
Just set up MDWS (MyDSLWebStats) on my Nan's ADSL2+ connection. Her line's Downstream SNR margin is wrongly set to 15 dB. I've just tried to use the following value "65450" in the telnet interface to drop this to 3 dB, but now the line won't resync and is in a cycle because as I later found out, that's the wrong value. Because I was doing this via TeamViewer, I can't access the interface as there's no internet connection. Will I need to ask here to power cycle the router or will it eventually give up?
Thanks,
William

The SNR value entered is not for the 8800 series, the value you entered is for the older 7800N.Grimers wrote:Hi guys,

Attached is a SNR table for the 8800/8900 and newer 7800 series
You will need to gain access to the router locally to change the SNR value, so the device can sync, I would suggest a SNR value of 4092 which will give around 4.5db downstream SNR once synced.

Thanks for the very quick reply.
I thought so. May I ask why the router doesn't have a "cut out" feature where it restarts with default values after a certain time frame? I will ask my Nan to power cycle the router and try "4092". Thanks.

No router that I know of has a cut out feature and reset's back to factory default settings after a set time frame.Grimers wrote:Thanks for the very quick reply.

When making these changes especially if never done before and will effect internet connectivity, it is advised to try them out locally first.

Sorry, I wasn't clear. I meant just a restart after so many DSL sync attempts. Also, why would it accept a number that wasn't supported? Just seems strange that's all.

Restart would not help, the SNR value needs to be adjusted.Grimers wrote:Sorry, I wasn't clear. I meant just a restart after so many DSL sync attempts. Also, why would it accept a number that wasn't supported? Just seems strange that's all.
I am not sure what SNR reading you would get from your value, I am guessing its too low, but valid.

Oh, I thought upon restart the downstream SNR margin was reset.billion_fan wrote:Restart would not help, the SNR value needs to be adjusted.

Tried adsl configure --snr 4092 and it's broken again.

Use the web gui to change the SNR found under 'Configuration >> WAN >> SNR'Grimers wrote:Tried adsl configure --snr 4092 and it's broken again.
If 4092 won't sync you will need to higher the SNR value,

I tried 1, 3 and 4092 in the web GUI field but no luck. The downstream rate is banded so asking TT for a DLM reset.
