Is it dead?

Post by mikejphillips99 »

Internet died last night. Could not access router via IP address either. Much faffing about today and I have re-instated the Plusnet Modem/Router which works ok.

The Billion had a solid DSL sync light but flashing internet. Are there any tests I can do or do we go the the skip?

Try a reset and then reconfigure the device again from scratch.

1. Turn on the device leave it on for around 2 minutes (leave your PC disconnected from the router)
2. Grab pin/paper clip
3. Press the reset pin hole in for 10 seconds while the device is still on
4. The power light should turn red
5. Let go of the reset pin hole
6. Once the device has booted up (WLAN light on) plug everything back up to router and try to access the web gui on http://192.168.1.254

Thanks, fan - I will try that. Access to the router CP is not a problem, however. Any idea what may have caused it?

PS Don't seem to be able to contact mods direct, but please ignore incoming email about IP banning sent today 18/3. I have discovered the problem. Sorry!

Fan - bingo! All back to normal and luckily I had saved the settings for multicast so just needed a 'restore'. Thanks for the nudge. Great to have it back as the performance is so much better than the PN kit (when it works, of course....... :D )

I am not familiar with the way routers/modems work, but is this failure a pre-cursor of another?
