DHCP Option 66 and missing option 67

Post by cheops2006 »

Hi,

Is there any reason why Option 67 is missing on the DHCP server?

As far as I know Option 66 (which is there) is for specifying the TFTP server and Option 67 (Missing) Is for specifying the boot filename.

Would it be possible to get Option 67 added to the DHCP server as they kind of work hand in hand.

Regards

Our engineers are asking for a example of how you plan on using option 67 (Steps would be great), so they can check with Broadcom

Well you set option 66 to be your tftp server so for example 192.168.1.250

Then you set option 67 to be the filename at the path at the above server address.

Essentially a string value the same as option 66, it should be very trivial to add to the interface code.

I should have mentioned option 66 and 67 is used for network booting machines and possibly installing iso images, great for VM environments.

Attached is a newer firmware that has option 67 support, let me know how you get on.

Release notes (if upgrading from a firmware below d24, you need to reset back to factory default settings and manually reconfigure the device again from scratch, as d24 and above have the new wireless driver)

1. Enhance DHCP page list on new code base 4.16L05
2. Support DHCP Server option 67
3. Support VPN connection with provider Nord VPN server (L2TP over IPsec client)
