BiPAC 8800NL v1 - Three WiFi calling

Post by Ryukain »

Hey guys!

So I am a bit confused what the issue could be, so here goes. I have a unlocked Samsung Note 8 that recently got the Oreo update, this includes Wi-Fi calling, at work the symbol appears and nothing to it, but at home I have tried a few things including opening up the ports which I found on the EE website; https://community.ee.co.uk/t5/Apple/Wif ... d-p/310476

Related to Apple but I assume Android would follow the same ports. I have also tried the things in the following thread; viewtopic.php?f=19&t=3911&p=12459&hilit ... ing#p12459

However, it seems to be the same firmware as what I am using and IPSec is disabled, am I missing something else?

I know the BiPac 8800NL is showing its age now but it just works great with Sky Fibre vs the D7000 from Netgear, would really like to understand why the Wifi calling isn't working. :?:

Thank you in advance!

Just tested the Three in Touch app, which is for wifi calling, and works fine on the 8800NL, this is with IPsec option enabled

Thanks for taking the time to test this @billion_fan.

I meant the built in Android WiFi calling; http://www.three.co.uk/discover/Three_i ... fi-calling
As stated it worked in a other environment (office) but they use a Netgear router and not vDSL. (cable)

It could even be my ISP that is blocking it. What I will do is remove the Billion router temporarily and put the Sky modem back in. If that doesn't work then it may be blocked.

I doubt the ISP will block this, if you still have issues give Three in Touch ago to see if that works. (does the same thing for Three network) My note 3 doesn't support this feature hence I have to use the app

Yeah I have previously used the Three in Touch app, not a huge fan but it does get the job done.

So conclusion... it isn't the BiPAC.. as even connected directly to Sky's SR102 I still don't get it natively.

Thank you for your help Billion_fan, have you got any idea about IPv6 setup with the BiPAC and Sky fibre?

When I tried the standard options it wouldn't retrieve a IPv6 address.

All you need to do is make sure IPv6 is enabled for WAN interface, and also under 'Configuration >> LAN >> IPv6 Auto Config'

Make sure the DHCPv6 server is enabled and the 'Issue Router Advertisements' is enabled.

Then click on 'Status >> WAN' and make sure a IPv6 address is being assigned to the WAN side.

Also attached is the latest firmware for your device

Is this firmware the same as the one on the billion support pages?
