Post by Stevie1978 »

I am switching to Gigaclear tomorrow using their 200 package.

A) would i lose anything my using their Genesis DGR router and bridge it into the 8800NL R2
B) How can bridging be accomplished successfully?

Many thanks

As the 8800NL R2 only has one gigabit port, you will lose half your bandwidth (the EWAN port is gigabit, the LAN ports are 100mbps)

If you want to bridge the connection the only option is to use the router like a wireless hub/switch

1. Make sure the IP address of the 8800NL R2 does not clash with the Genesis DGR router
2. Turn off the DHCP server on the 8800NL R2
3. Plug a Ethernet connection from the Genesis DGR router to the 8800NL R2
4. Restart any devices connected to the 8800NL R2

With the above setup all routing etc will be done by the Genesis DGR router, this is to avoid double NAT

Thank you. I was going to use it as a Wi-Fi extender as I have read the genexis Wi-Fi is rubbish.
Is that all i have to do?
Will the routers have to share Wi-Fi names or switch off on genexis?

Yes that's all that is needed, you can turn off the wifi on the Genesis router, if you want to the use the wifi on the 7800NXL only
