So, last week an hour before I leave on a trip a lightning/thunderstorm is going on and the house trips go. On re-starting them the Billion 8900-2400 doesn't seem happy, but I have to rush off and can't test anything.
Back today and router just has a flashing green power LED, and an ethernet port lights up when I plug a cable in. No lights on the DSL/Internet LEDs, Trying to access the Admin pages results in time outs and no activity seen on the Wi-Fi 2.4ghz nor 5ghz.
Tried full reboots/hard resets... still the same. I've plugged an old Vodafone VDSL modem in and it's working and I have internet again, so definitely the Billion at fault.
Can I assume whatever caused the trips to go (possibly lightning it seemed very close) has 'blown' the router and I need a new one? or has anyone one anything else I could try.

Sounds like the power surge has blown the router, but try the followingbenc999 wrote: ↑Wed Jul 25, 2018 9:40 am So, last week an hour before I leave on a trip a lightning/thunderstorm is going on and the house trips go. 1. Download the latest version of firmware (http://www.billion.uk.com/esupport/inde ... ion-252d27)
2. Turn off the device
3. Press and hold the reset button, with a paperclip
4. While holding the reset button turn on the device
5. While still holding the reset button check to see if the power LED turns red
6. If it does, set a static IP address to your Ethernet connection - IP = 192.168.1.100, Subnet - 255.255.255.0
7. Try to navigating to http://192.168.1.254
8. If you see a recovery page within the 'Software File Name' option click on 'Browse' and select the firmware file you downloaded on step 1(might take upto 10 minutes for the whole process to complete)
If you don't see the recovery page then it will be time to buy a new router.

Re: Suspected Broken Router
Just one more idea, make sure the PSU is not damaged, the Billion runs on 15volt but for a test it won't hurt it run it on 12v dc at lease a 2A adapter see if the router starts up normally but don't flash any firmware at 12 volt because it may brick it amusing it already isn't broken.
Also make sure the adapter you use has the Plus + center pin is wired the same.
