8800AXL R2 slower than sky q router?

Post by newquaylad »

Hi all
I have set up my new 8800axl r2
took me a while to work out how to get the username and password from sky, wireshark sorted that out,

ok so my issue is,

i had a sky q router with sky fibre max, was getting 55-65 on wifi and ethernet,
Now with using the 8800axl r2 im getting 45-55 ethernet and 20 and under on wifi,

Is there something im missing?

not sure how to show you my router settings so please let me know if this is something you need,

Any tips from sky fiber max users?

Any tips on improving speeds?

thanks in advance :)

Try changing the wireless channel step below

1. Login to the router
2. Click on 'Configuration >> Wireless 2.4ghz >> Advanced'
3. Try changing the channel to 1 or 9

If you still have issues try changing the bandwidth on the same page to 20/40mhz

Bit confused as you stated on the previous post

"but with the 8800AXL R2 I'm getting the same on Ethernet" and now you stating 45-55 on Ethernet

There is no tweaking that can be done when using FTTC/VDSL, you can only tweak the SNR on a ADSL line.

Yes wifi and ethernet are both slower than the sky q box.
I have tried all channels and no difference.
But changing the WiFi channel won't effect the ethernet anyways.
So may be the sky q box is better than I thought.

sky stuff is usually pretty good for one of the big ISPs,when I was with them the provided a locked down netgear when was on adsl then a locked down sagem router to use with BT fibre modem, both the netgear and sagem performed pretty well
