Moderate NAT in Black Ops 4

Post by Hack123 »

BO4 just came out and I'm stuck with a moderate NAT, I have tried everything I can find on Google with no luck. I'm playing the PC version using a 8800AXL R2.

So far I've tried port forwarding all the needed port on the router and windows firewall, tried in DMZ mode, tried with UPnP on and off and I've tried Google DNS. Also, can someone explain why I have two WANs? pppoa0 and ppp1.1, I just forwarded them both just in case.

I've spent more time trying to fix my NAT than actually playing the game, my friends using cheapo ISP routers had an open NAT instantly. I should also mentioned I formatted Windows 10 Pro yesterday so I'm on a clean install.

Which network interface should I be port forwarding? My PC is wired.

PPPoA = ADSL
PPPoE - VDSL
USB - 3G/4G dongle

Delete all 'Port Triggering' rules you should be using the 'Virtual Server' section for port forwarding.

Really these ports should open automatically if UPNP is enabled (Network Discovery enabled within Network and Sharing Centre)

Also strange the DMZ did not work, assuming you entered the correct IP address of your windows 10 machine.

Looks fine to me (I am assuming your PC's IP address is 192.168.1.100)

Yeah it is, and it's show as that in the Black Ops 4 info screen, but sadly my NAT is still moderate which has a big negative impact on the game as you can only play with other moderate players, where's if it's open you can play with everybody. If you have any idea at all what could be causing this please let me know.

Its really strange after opening the ports you still get moderate nat, do you have any software firewall installed with your anti virus, you might want to disable it also or allow them through the firewall.

1. Disable the windows firewall
2. Enable UPNP within the game
3. Make sure network discovery is enabled within network and sharing centre
4. Make sure UPNP is enabled within the router (Configuration >> Advanced Setup UPnP)

I "fixed it", turns out my ISP uses CGNAT which prevents port forwarding, I got around this by https://portmap.io to open UDP 3074.

EDIT: Apparently my ISP DOESN'T use CGNAT, but my solution does work. Is there anything I can do router side to achieve the same goal without using OpenVPN?
