8800NL (R1 White) - Unable to upgrade / downgrade firmware - Illegal Image

Post by marcusjclifford »

Hi All,
I have multiple 8800NL R1 (the white ones).

I recently got another one, and its firmware when purchased was 2.32e.dt5
All my existing 8800NL run 2.32

I want to put this new one on 2.32 but everytime I try to upload the firmware it says "Image Uploading Failed. The selected file contains and illegal image."

The file I'm using is fine as I test firmware updated one of my other units and it was perfect. I also tried the 2.32d firmware just in case, but got the same.

I have never heard of firmware 2.32e.dt5 before - can anyone advise how I can do a firmware upgrade skipping this illegal image check as I know the image is good.

Thanks in advance.

OK... the plot thickens... it looks as if this router may have some form of customised firmware installed.

Even after a factory reset and hardware reset (paper clip in back) it is still showing a PPPoA password and various other settings tied to a company called CallFlow. From their website they seem to send out Billion routers as part of their package.
https://www.callflow.co.uk/support-guid ... ur-router/

So, question now is is there a way to overwrite a custom firmware?

Thanks

Ticket received, I'll drop you a reply on Monday, as we will need remote access to the device so we can perform a remote firmware upgrade to a older firmware, and then you can upgrade to 2.32e (or any other general release)
