7800N replacement

Post by stevebez »

Got Sky Fibre 75Mb and the router has worked well for many years now but having issues with printers not remaining connected to the network, one LAN and one wireless. Had to add a Netgear Nighthawk extender to sort out some wifi black spots - but have to say the basic wifi "service" is not very good on the 7800N

So basically my question is for the £250+ what additional benefits will I get other than presumably better wireless connection and throughput? Is the LAN management on the newer model that much better than the 7800N?

Basically is it worth the upgrade to an AX-2400?

Thanks
Steve

The wireless upgrade maybe worth it as you will have 5ghz AC as well as 2.4ghz

You get 5 gigabit LAN ports, (if you are not using the EWAN port)

It is a one box solution for VDSL/FTTC/Fibre, so no need to use a external modem

You can have a look at the features/web gui on the following link

New unit arrived and was super easy to setup and works brilliantly.

Removing the BTOpenreach modem was plug and play and setting up the Sky config was dead easy (all you have to do is follow the very good manual).

Super pleased as the wifi blocker app now works flawlessly with the new modem.

Have the NetGear Nighthawk1000 as the repeater for upstairs - although not sure I need it.

Any of you still on the 7800, the upgrade is def worth it.
