Just got a 8800NL r2...ugh!

Post by magogman »

The R1 was very good before it packed up; few errors and good sync rate about 1.7 Mbps above my ISP's issue router, and even more, say another 2 Mbps above this R2. Today error rates/hour stand at: CRC 14620; ES 2980; SES 170. Result is 2 resyncs since 5 p.m, when the router was set up.

I'm minded to return the thing to the vendor. but would like to know first, if there is anything to cure the problem. Details I see are:

Code: Select all

Modem/router firmware: AnnexA version - A2pvI042j1.d26q_rc1a
Hope to hear from anyone, who has info and advice soon. :)

Try a older firmware with a different DMT code (A2pvI042e.d26g)

Don't firmware versions have titles like "2.32D.DH14"? before I consider your suggestion I'd like to know what that is in terms of the foregoing description in my post, and what should be on the router now, which is called in your parlance A2pvI042j1.d26q_rc1a? It's all confusing to me.

TBAH it's likely to go back to the retailer, as it's so much worse than my ISP standard issue.

The firmware I posted is version 2.50a.d21 it has a different DMT code (DSL code)
The router should have come with 2.52.d12
A2pvI042j1.d26q_rc1a is the Broadcom DMT code
