Question about a 7800

Hello new to forum and to billion products

I currently have a supplied talk talk dsl 2680 modem (bridged) with a draytek 2920n at an adsl 24mb connection here in UK
I would like to keep the 2920n as pure router due to its features

I also have a caped adsl ... 2mb connection in Greece with a supplied "conn-x" modem/router

I am planning replacing both of the modems with the billions 7800 (not the n models)

I have few question if possible to be answered please in order to help me

1-
If i stay in Europe region at near future, will still get support from this forum?as i am not aware any in Greece

2-
Which firmware region do i need for future updates for the billion in Greece?is pppoe over llc
Is ok the UK one?

3-
If i replace the talk talk modem ... can the 7800 be bridged with the 2920n?
Is yes can the SNR still be tweaked at this stage?via the secret page

4-
If i replace the conn-x supplied modem in Greece with the billion can i use the 7800 again bridged as modem ONLY?
The connection there is PPPOE over LLC ...so is this ok for the billion and let me synchronise?

5-
If not snr tweaks are possible at bridge mode of the billion .... is any other way to use the billion in normal mode and use the 2920 in static/dynamic mode (which will take all informations from the billion direct) and disable dhcp and wireless at one of the units?(i know at least the 2920 can do)

Can you ask your ISP in Greece for your broadband settings eg Protocol, encap method, VPI/VCI etc and post them here so I can have a look

If you purchase the device from the UK, the warranty is only vaild in the UK. However we will try and support you from the UK.

You mention a bridged connection, is this when you external WAN IP is passed over to another router eg draytek 2920n so your 2920n will be dialing into the 7800 using PPPOE for example?

The 7800 working in modem mode (Pure Bridge on the 7800N WAN section) should still sync with the line, so you will need to tweak the SNR before enabling 'Pure Bridge' as the router becomes a dumb modem and you cannot access the routers web interface once enabled (but I have not tested this as once you enable 'Pure Bridge' you can not access the web interface to check the stats)

In mean time i have find this guide very interesting info which seems perfect combination because they managed to connect it with 2 billions (but here in UK)
so all perfect till now

the first unit with out wi-fi was ordered from dabs and is upon request order so soon i will have it

order cancelled from bads because was delaying get in stock and got it from broadbandbuyer as was cheaper as well by the way with free post(i got the none wi-fi model)
some time perhaps over weekend i m going to try it cos of work not time for now .... (isp is TT here in UK) ...so one question please
If i bridged, take out wire to an other router ... does it matter which lan port to connect it?(1-4)

Ok guys Here are the REAL TESTS
Tested over an hour at my Talk Talk line before i send it abroad to make sure is working fine because not sure about warranty out of UK
Then some time later a second unit will be on the way
Here the results compared with my current 2850
My line is direct to the exchange about 2.400 meters (told by BT engineer when installed the line) and the local dslam is infineon

WOWOW...just plug it in and not settings was need to be done or even use the quick set up
Line was detected with in 30 seconds WOWOW
Uploaded latest firmware 1.06g (was 1.06f something)
Factory reset,reboot and again with in 30 seconds it set up its self with out me need to do anything
UP AND WORKING OUT OF THE BOX

The 7800 will synchronise about 1.5 - 2 mbps less than the 2850 but bear in mind not any tweak performed like SRA or PhyR or change at snr via secret menu
The 2850 has all ready tweaked firmware (loaded by me) but can not change snr values only loop attenuator so that was the maximum perform can give and no more tweakingThe normal firmware (standard firmware is synchronizing same or sometimes less than the 7800...keep that in mind)

The 7800 un-tweaked had about 1-2 ms more ping but at thinkbroadband monitor will not give any latency spikes...while the 2850 about every 10-15 min will give some latency spikes (yellow)
(bear in mind the yellow spikes from the 7800 is from my own use)
It seems from the monitor is giving much cleared connection even at the dslam is different vendor

I mean if you notice the 2850 will give some spikes every 10-15 min and you can notice few yellow as well ...while the 7800 is clear ... wowow

The 7800 will not report any errors in the hour and half i used it with my fast path line and also the default suppied TT isp modem will not report errors (unless are exists errors and the 2 modems not reporting them)...while the 2850 will report many errors with in just few minutes

WiFi was not pesent to test because i got the not N model

OVER ALL VERY PLEASED was a very good (for un-tweaked modem) stable connection with infineon at dslam and can tell for sure if was tweaked will match it and beat the 2850 (the 2850 was all ready maximum possible tweaked)
WELL-DONE BILLION HAVE TO SAY THANKS...IS RECOMMENDED to all my mates
