With regards to the earlier question re: WLAN LED flashing or not - this is probably one of the 'issues' resolved in the latest firmware that has already been released over in APAC - v1.06h:

Release Notes 7800N & 7800GZ
1.06h 2nd January 2013
Enhancements:
1. Added keep-alive setting for IPsec (7800GZ).
2. Added Client ID for DHCP clients.
3. Added more protection to ensure that 3G can remain connected(7800GZ)
Bugs Fixed:
1> Fixed 7800N WLAN Led behaviour.
2> Fixed WEB IOT issue with FireFox v15.
3> Fixed issue whereby system crashes when user sets EWAN via Basic mode.
4> Fixed 3G DNS Keep-alive ping issue (7800GZ)
5> Fixed PPTP issue (7800N).
6> Fixed issue whereby PPPoE or PPPoA dial-on demand can't work.
7> Fixed issue whereby WLAN MAC address suggestion list is not correct on the WLAN MAC Filter page.

Not sure any other WLAN specific issues have been addressed, as (I believe) the previous release included an update to latest/new WLAN drivers for the inbuilt wireless hardware.....

Hopefully we'll be getting this firmware in the UK very soon..... (@billion_fan - any suggestions when we might get this?)

Kind regards

@ pawhe955
Thanks for the firmware news. It looks like 1.06h fixes many of the issues I've run into. I really hope billion_fan can give us this firmware soon.

I have requested the firmware from our engineers, its strange as I thought they would of sent me the firmware first as I reported most of these issues.

Another unit with wireless dropouts here. I *thought* I had a few problems with it on 1.06e, so upped the f/ware to 1.06g and led stays on steady plus wifi drops out frequently and for long periods. It sometimes mysteriously comes back on it's own, if left for an hour or two, but seems to shut down as soon as I try to put anything through it!

My year old 7800n (approx) shows wireless as ON, but 2 new mobile devices and 3 laptops say it's not!

I'm getting really frustrated as I just bought a new smartphone and tablet and can't make full use of them without wifi.

I'm gonna try 1.06f... is that a good idea? Or maybe the Aussie 1.06h?

Restarts and switching on/off sometimes gets it back for a half hour or so then gone again. Could this be heat related?

Cheers 4 now, Paul.

I have all the same problems as you. I run 2 7800n. (Work & home). The only firmware i found that keeps the wifi stable on my home router is G.dc1 (1.06Gdc1). On the works one it needs to be f.
Very strange. I will not be updating any firmwares anymore. It will be a asus router for me next. ps i tried the H on both. No good.

Is this the sky fibre firmware that is giving the wireless problem?

Reason I ask is that I run the sky fibre firmware and I have lots of intermittent dropouts of wireless.

Well my 4th 7800N router has packed in after 6 months. Same old issue, loss of wireless clients and slow throughput. Amazon now refuse to replace it, fair enough. Submitted a ticket, lets see what happens?
