Hi
I have had the 7800n for just a week and am impressed with the connection to BT broadband, which has proven to be stable and quicker than my ageing Linksys WAG325.
I started to explore the various settings in the router and decided to add a timeslot to turn off the wirless signal at overnight.
Once the changes were made I "saved config". The settings were lost so I re-entered and presses "restart" . The router then went through the reboot procedure and the progress line showed the reboot went through the cycle.
Once rebooted the modem would not connect to the internet. Both the DSL and Internet lights were out on the modem. I checked all the setting in the modem and they were fine. I "unset" the turn off wireless feature and rebooted again. Still no lights for the the DSL or Internet.
After tryingr another couple reboots I eventually reset to factory settings then re-entered the settings for BT broadband. The lights still had not come on.
Eventually I found the “quick start” menu and re-entered the same settings again. This time I received confirmation that the Wan had been established and it did work with both lights being illuminated. The router is on version “g” firmware as shipped.
Have I made common mistakes in trying to set the Timeslots or have others reported this issue.
Thanks
Mike

Re: DSL and Internet lights fail after reboot
I don't thnk you have made a mistake, its a strange issue, normally after a reset back to factory default settings the DSL light should start to flash.
No other customers/users have reported the same issue so it is a strange one.
As the unit is working now, there is nothing to worry about.
The Timeslot should not effect ADSL connectivity.

Thanks billion_fan for the response.
Would you mind advising of the procedure for setting the time slots, ie what is the sequence of inputing data and saving to the modem. Also are the start and end times when the wirles signal is off or on?
One last matter, is the Internet light supposed to flicker on and off? I am probably mistaken but I though it was continously on before the issue noted in my first post.
Thanks
Mike

Re: DSL and Internet lights fail after reboot
Hi Mike
Please try the following.
1. Setup a time schedule for when you want the wireless function to be active (you must select the days and time)
2. Enable the timeslot under the advanced wireless menu
Please see the attached screen shots of my setup
@13:18 the wireless LED came on and I had wireless access
@13:21 the wireless LED went out, and no wireless access (as shown in the attached screen shot)
You do not need to reboot the router for these changes to take effect, once you click on 'Apply' (to apply the timeslot to the wireless connection) it should be enabled.

Also the internet light should flash if using ADSL.

Re: DSL and Internet lights fail after reboot
Thanks again for the responses.
I tried to set a single time slot to apply to every day of the week i.e. the wireless worked between 6.30 am and 11.30pm for every day of the week. Therefore I ticked all the boxes for the days against Time slot 1.
As soon as I click to another page in the modem web interface it lost the data I had selected. Is it possible to make the selections I was attempting to make?
Regards
Mike

I have followed the instruction and the time does not enter against slot 1. Also the day of the week does not turn into a capital letter. Have I missed something?
Hopefully the upload will work.

Re: DSL and Internet lights fail after reboot
After you make the changes to the timeslot you need to click EDIT again , that looks like the step you miss out.

Re: DSL and Internet lights fail after reboot
Thanks tinytim. Spot on. That has made a difference and it now works. Strangly the instruction manual does not explain how to use or edit the time slots.
