Hi there,
I received the Billion 7800N this morning in the post and so far it seems to be ok, i have updated to the lastest firmware 1.06h(UK).
My setup is wireless and 2 ethernet wired conntections, however, only one of wired connections is working. The computer i'm using at the moment uses a Marvell Yukon 88E8056 gigabit ethernet controller(asus motherboard) and works fine. The other computer uses a Atheros ar8121/ar8113/ar8114 ethernet controller(asus motherboard).
I think there might be a compatibility issue with the 7800n, since i have tried everything and it just doesn't connect to the router, both computers are using windows 7 x64 with all the lastest updates and drivers. I have tried an old d-link router, which the 7800N replaced and both computers connect.
Has anyone else experienced a similar problem?
Any help is much appreciated.
Thanks.

Re: 7800N and Atheros ethernet controller problem
Have you tried the change the ethernet port your computer connects to.
If possible please test a working port, so swap the Marvell Yukon 88E8056 port with the Atheros ar8121/ar8113/ar8114 to see if you get connectivity to 7800n.
Also test the EWAN port (if you are using ADSL this port can be used as a fifth ethernet port with max speeds of 100mbps amber light)

Thanks for your reply.
I'm using ADSL and i've tried all the ports on the router. The ethernet controllers are built onto both motherboards, they are not PCI cards and i can't change them. The LED lights for both ethernet cables on the router are on, but only one works.

Does your non working computer obtain the correct IP from the DHCP on the router??koh808 wrote:Thanks for your reply.

Have you checked to make sure the computer is not set to static IP address?

Yes, the router obtains the correct IP. The DHCP Table lists both computers as well as wireless devices. The IP isn't static.billion_fan wrote:Does your non working computer obtain the correct IP from the DHCP on the router??koh808 wrote:Thanks for your reply.

I just checked the settings again, for some odd reason the IP was static, it's always set to auto, but i changed it back and it instantly connected.koh808 wrote:Yes, the router obtains the correct IP. I have finally got it working! Everything seems to be working great and my line has got a nice speed boost since using the 7800n.
Thanks for your help.
