7800n AOL Tweaks

Post by darthvader666uk »

Hi Guys,

Just got myself a 7800N and its fantastic! So much to do and so much control over the connection. I have tweaked and tweaked and may have come to the end but I was wondering if anyone could give me more guidence. I dont have a great connection here so I want to squeeze the most out of it. Firstly, I have the following ADSL Status:

DSP Firmware Version: A2pB025f.d22k
DMT Status: No Defect
Operational Mode: ADSL2
Upstream: 1020
Downstream: 6363
SNR Margin(Upstream): 10.8
SNR Margin(Downstream): 6.1
Line Attenuation(Upstream): 23.8
Line Attenuation(Downstream): 40.5

This is what I have ticked in Operational Mode:

ADSL Mode: Annex M
Modulator: ADSL2, ADSL2+, G.Lite, T1.413, G.Dmt
Capability SRA: diabled
PhyR:Upstream, Downstream

The SNR rate I have in place is 50.

Can anyone else suggest anything better in order to get a better connection?

Thanks for your help :)

6.0db is normally the target SNR for a BT line (advised by BT)

But you can try and lower the SNR by 5 (keep going down by 5), to see if you can reach a DB reading for 3.0db and see if the router is stable on your line with this reading (as you are on a long line, you may have to find a more higher snr eg 4db or 5db to achieve the fastest speed possible with a balance with stability)
