Am using a 7800N router (which is brilliant) to provide internet to a PC and an ageing iMac. The PC has a wireless LAN card installed and no problems with this but the iMac, which has no wireless capability, was running with a 3011W usb adapter into a hub which has recently stopped working. Have had to resort to a wired connection in the interim. The adapter, when plugged in to the PC, registers as working in control panel and the light flashes to prove it. Plug it into the hub on the iMac, however, and no lights, no presence registered in devices and no internet. Could this be something to do with the automatic updating of OS X ? It is now running OS X 10.5.8 (the last manifestation as it is no longer supported) and I notice from the 3011W spec that it should be good for 10.4 and 10.5. I have tried installing the updated drivers (10.6) from Billion's site but to no avail. Anyone else with an elderly Mac come across this problem?
