Up until one month ago I was a BeIng (i.e. ISP was BeThere) using my 7800N happily with ADSL. I have since switched to PlusNet Fibre Unlimited and a BT engineer installed the necessary wiring etc and a modem and this I then plugged in to the PlusNet supplied Technicolor Router... the result is great but I would really like to use my old 7800N...
I configured the 7800N for PPPoE etc and plugged it in and it 'worked' first time but I then noticed that I was not achieving the download speeds that I was getting with the Tecnicolor... swapped it back... great speeds...
Is the 7800N capable of Fibre throughput? Is there something I'm missing?

Make sure QOS is disabled, I would suggest doing a full reset back to factory default settings and then reconfigure your device again for a FTTC connection.
Yes the 7800N work fine on a FTTC connection

I am on 1.06f.dc1 and it definitely went slow last time... I'll reflash, reset and see what happens....

Hm... I'm really not sure.... This is with the PlusNet supplied Technicolor router (and the BT modem)....

Then I reflashed my 7800N and put it in the place of the Technicolor and got...

On the face of it this looks good but the reality seems to be that the throughput is not consistent. When downloading large files you can get good speeds (almost 8MB/s) and during these periods the 7800N makes a slight whistling noise (presumably showing it working hard) but then intermittently during the download the throughput will plummet to 4MB/s before slowly recovering.
I am using 1.06h, factory default apart from adding the EWAN/PPPoE profile. I do not have any QoS profiles configured.
This is to be expected?

From our internal tests we done a while back, we found the 7800N is capable of achieving upto 90mbps throughput on the EWAN port.

Do you think MTU size could be a factor? What did you have in your tests?
