Connecting to OpenVPN server on AWS at the router
Hey all.
Just a random question I'm no network engineer but I got the 8900 1600R2 because it's a great bit of kit for the money. Since we upgraded from the Netgear modem router we where using we have yet to have an internet connection drop.
Anyway I'm wondering if I could connect the router to an AWS hosted openVPN server to give me router level VPN protection. For free I can setup 2 devices and if the router is 1 that should bypass this restriction?
Looking forward to hearing from you all.
Sean

Not sure as others have tried with other VPN providers and it fails, what I can confirm that it is compatible with Nord VPN. (Open VPN client on the 8900 series)TechnicalScholar wrote: ↑Tue Sep 15, 2020 9:49 am Hey all.

Good to know I'm just curious and cheapbillion_fan wrote: ↑Tue Sep 15, 2020 10:00 am Not sure as others have tried with other VPN providers and it fails, what I can confirm that it is compatible with Nord VPN. (Open VPN client on the 8900 series)

I'm tempted to give it a go but with the wife working from home I can't disrupt the internet connection during the day and it must stay reliable (hence this router being used)

You can always give it ago when internet access is not needed and post the resultsTechnicalScholar wrote: ↑Tue Sep 15, 2020 10:04 amGood to know I'm just curious and cheapbillion_fan wrote: ↑Tue Sep 15, 2020 10:00 am Not sure as others have tried with other VPN providers and it fails, what I can confirm that it is compatible with Nord VPN. Attached is guide we use with Nord VPN, you should be able to get the .ovpn file from your VPN server, then follow the steps in the guide and see if it worksTechnicalScholar wrote: ↑Tue Sep 15, 2020 11:22 amSo far I've got the instance up, up can connect via my phone app. Can I for the love or money get the router to do the samebillion_fan wrote: ↑Tue Sep 15, 2020 10:16 am You can always give it ago when internet access is not needed and post the results

See if you can import a Nord open VPN file.TechnicalScholar wrote: ↑Tue Sep 15, 2020 11:37 am It keeps giving me the attached error message followed by a "failed to upload" error![]()
https://downloads.nordcdn.com/configs/f ... cp443.ovpn
Link above if it works, then your .ovpn file might not be compatible
