How to configure VPN pass through?

I want to be able to access my Windows 7 PC via VPN, while out and about with my Windows 7 laptop. I have configured both devices and tested that the connection works over a LAN connected to the 7800N router. Now I need to configure the 7800N so I can make the same incoming connection through ADSL, but the documentation is unhelpful.

Thus far, I've enabled the PPTP Function with these (mostly default) settings:

WAN Port: ADSL
Auth. Type: MS-CHAPv2
Encryption Key Length: Auto
Peer Encryption Mode: Allow stateless and stateful
IP Addresses Assigned to Peer: 192.168.1.100

I got that IP address by running the DOS command IPCONFIG on my PC and looking at the IPv4 address under "Ethernet adapter Local Area Connection". (I realise that DHCP could change it later, but thought it should do until I configure a static IP address in the router for my PC.) However, I may be barking up the wrong tree, as the label for that field is "IP Addresses Assigned to Peer", with no explanation of what that means.

The documentation doesn't explain the purpose of the PPTP Account and PPTP Client forms, so I have left them blank.

When I tried to establish a VPN from my laptop to the static IP address assigned to my ADSL connection, I got error 868. Creating a packet filter firewall rule to forward incoming port 1723 for protocol TCP made no difference.

From the above, it's probably obvious that I haven't a clue what I'm doing, so any help would be greatly appreciated!

You can set the 7800N as the PPTP server, there is no need to setup your win 7 machine as the PPTP server.

Once done, you should be able to connect to your network, and then browse the files of your win 7 laptop
