Port forwarding for my Prokam 8ch DVR CCTV
I need desparate help in the port forwarding dept. I have had my new Prokam 8Ch CCTV DVR now for some 3/4 weeks. I need to port forward 2 ports that are use for comunication with the DVR, one is the so called Media port 9000, the other one is called Web 8080 (default is 80)
I have gone through what i think is the correct procedure in the router for port forwarding, but I cannot get the port to show as open. I am also not sure as to which ports needs TCP and UDP. I can connect internal no problem via my lan but from the outside world nothing. I have Dyndns setup in the 7800n.
My Pc is running Win XP SP3 plus Norton Internet security 2013.
Looking forward to your help.
Alan

Have you tried to use the Virtual Server >> Port Mapping section??
Add the port there and the internal IP address (192.168.1.233) you can also select both protocols TCP and UDP (if you are unsure) for both ports that need to be opened.

Attached is a screen shot of my Virtual server page, I pressume that this is correct. I have re-started the router after making changes. I am sorry that my old AVtech dvr died, that was no trouble to get online. Anyway keep thowing things at me and maybe we can track down what is blocking it.

Portforwarding looks correct, so that should not be a issue, have you tried to power cycle your DVR??binbags wrote:Hibillion_fan wrote:Have you tried to use the Virtual Server >> Port Mapping section??

Another thing to try is DMZ option and put the IP address 192.168.1.233 into DMZ, that should open all ports, also make sure that under Firewall >> Packet Filter, there is only the default rule there (outgoing, any, any, forward)

What do you know, my ports are "open"

the DMZ I had already set as you said, but in the "Firewall" I had set 2 rules to pass through, one for port 9000 and one for 8080. I powered down the router went to the DVR and re-booted that came back to the router and powered up that. So of the three posibilities which do thing was causing my problem

Fogot to say a great big thanks for sorting out my port problem.
