BT Vision Multicast

Post by Craigeh »

Hey,

We had BT Infinity installed just over a month ago, and last week we got the extra channels (which come over multicast) on BT Vision.

However, they don't work at all with the 7800n (I've enabled IGMP, saved, rebooted), I just get the "Channel unavailable" message, meaning I've had to go back to the HomeHub 3...

Has anyone had any luck getting the extra BT Vision channels working with the 7800n? I've also posted on the BT Community form to see if anyone there has had any luck.

Cheers,
Craig

I am investigating with another cusotmer, (wireshark WAN packets are needed) once we get the logs we can investigate further.

Can you submit a ticket here and let us know if you are using a FTTC connection or a ADSL connection, we will need your help to debug the issue further

Any progress on this as I'm keen to get this working.

I'm on FTTC with firmware 1.06h.

Our last little helper dropped out, so we could not continue debugging, hence the reason I asked if any one else here could assist.

I have seen your ticket (thanks for that), we will have alook at your config, make changes if needed, and inform our engineers to assist when needed.

We're currently having issues with the multicast channels even when using the HomeHub. So once the issue is sorted, I'll be more than happy to help :-)

Well I've had some success.

I raised a ticket yesterday (17/7/2013) and here's the result of Billions response.

At Billion supports' suggestion I added a pure bridge profile to the EWAN port, saved config & restarted.

Now I've 2 active profiles (PPPoE & Bridge)and on the YouView box I can get BBC iPlayer for past programs via the guide & get channel 507 brilliantly.

To me that seems to have very simply resolved the multicast problem but will withhold final judgement until August 1 when BT Sport goes live.

I'm surprised it all seems so simple.

I should add that I've enabled IGMP proxy & snooping , not sure how relevant that is but I will play with those settings over the next few days & see what happens.

It's a great shame that other manufacturers support groups don't do such a good job as Billion.

Very pleased with Billion Support.

Hi,

I have tried the steps tinytim outlined in his post, and it's worked fine for me! I can now access all of the multicast channels fine!

Cheers,
