Hi Guys,
Ive just taken the plunge and purchased a 7800VDOX - still finding my feet with it but its an impressive bit of kit
One of the attractions for me was the ability to accept 4G via USB modem although I cant find a list of compatible devices anywhere
Is there such a list?
Thanks in advance

Re: 4G LTE
Just set a 7800DXL with an Alcatel L800, which is on the supported list and it works ok... But the "Status" page is pretty useless all it displays is "up"... There is nothing for network name, signal strength, network mode, card name or card firmware.
Is there anyway to display this info?
It does not seem to be dependent on the SIM, I have tried EE and three data SIMs ... Both work, but neither display any status other than "Up"
Should have added that I am on Software Version 2.32c and yes I did do a factory reset after updating.

The L800 works like a router, (hence you get a internal IP from the dongle) it has its own IP address 192.168.1.1 (if I remember correctly)BadMelonFarmer wrote:Just set a 7800DXL with an Alcatel L800, which is on the supported list and it works ok... If you want to check the status of the dongle you will have to check via its IP address 192.168.1.1

Re: 4G LTE
Thanks for the reply, that makes a lot of sense, I did wonder why I got the 192.168.1.1 address, seemed very odd.
Looks like I will have to try and change one of the devices as the 7800 runs on the default network of 192.168.1.x and as a result I can not open a browser page of 192.168.1.1 .... Will have to see if I can change the l800 as it would be a faff to change my main network

Does not seem to be a way of changing the L800 network address from the GUI, so changed the 7800DXL's network range and I can access the status page for the LTE interface on 192.168.1.1
Thanks for the help

I contacted Alcatel and fears were confirmed .... you cannot change the default IP on the L800.BadMelonFarmer wrote:Does not seem to be a way of changing the L800 network address from the GUI, so changed the 7800DXL's network range and I can access the status page for the LTE interface on 192.168.1.1

so it is a major ball ache to reconfigure the 7800DXL when firmware is updated due to the "Factory Reset" advice for each firmware

Well its hard to comment on Alcatel, but at least you can change the IP on the Billion, so its not the end of the worldBadMelonFarmer wrote:I contacted Alcatel and fears were confirmed .... you cannot change the default IP on the L800.BadMelonFarmer wrote:Does not seem to be a way of changing the L800 network address from the GUI, so changed the 7800DXL's network range and I can access the status page for the LTE interface on 192.168.1.1
