Can bridge mode still resolve external DNS?
I am using my Bipac 7800n in bridge mode for various reasons but I am apparently accepting external DNS requests. In bridge mode does the router do anything other than acting as a bridge or could it be the Bipac that is the culprit?

What IP address is getting recursive dns requests?eightace wrote:I am using my Bipac 7800n in bridge mode for various reasons but I am apparently accepting external DNS requests. In bridge mode does the router do anything other than acting as a bridge or could it be the Bipac that is the culprit?
As the 7800N is working in bridge mode, it does not have a WAN IP address, the device that is connected to the 7800N working as broadband router will acquire your WAN IP, this device needs to block recursive dns requests.

i figured this out - I am using a Mikrotik router and had a firewall to block all external requests on port 53 but it was still accepting requests until I set the config differently.
