7800N problems

Post by drt1710 »

I've had my 7800N for a couple of years now with no problems. Last week came down one morning to no Internet access on the wired pc or any wireless laptops. I was running the latest firmware, and connecting via mer. Tried connecting via PppoA still no joy, so reset to factory default, then upgraded the firmware to the latest, manually entered my Sky username and password etc and it connected to the Internet fine, woo hooo, but it only lasted 10 minutes and the wireless failed again, so I gave up and used my Sky router, any ideas or is it time to buy a new router?

I have had a similar problem to yours, mine started out just like that where the internet wouldnt come on or the wireless would stop working but it has since progressed onto the whole box just freezing and when unplugging it and plugging it back in sometimes the box wouldnt even show it had power or when it did the power light would flash and the box would just freeze.

And over the last few days it manages to boot after several power cycles but doesnt bring the wireless on at all or it crashes shortly after.

Am going to email support as I have only had mine 11 or 12 months.

Are they doing this on a Goodwill thing or is it still just in warranty ?

Email support, they will give you instructions on how to get the system log, and email it to them, from this they can diagnose the problem. Mine was a couple of months out of warranty and initially they said they would not fix it under warranty, but after a very cleverly worded email from me, they agreed to fix it foc as a goodwill gesture :D
