Hi all
I have a 7800n and am on a very long line with a line attenuation figure off the scale literally (over 63.5)
since getting my billion I doubled my download speeds to approx 2mb/sec on a good day but after some line trouble that BT didn't fix properly my line speeds are down half a meg to 1.5 ish
I tried altering my snr and that usually helps ( I try to get down to a snr of 6 ) but the next time I look at the snr tweak page it has gone back to 50. my snr has gone up again and my downstream sync is down.
do other people experience the same thing, is it really going back to 50 on the tweak page or do they all do that?
One thing I don't get is line dropouts! even when my snr is around 6 so I might have a word with my ISP and set it lower but I thought that I could do that with the 7800n and it would stay at what I set it?
I hope you can understand what i am talking about and would appreciate any help
Mike

BT's DLM (SRA ?) overrides any SNR tweaks you set as other members have found when they've tried them.
BT won't lower your profile below 6dB as that is deemed the lowest for a stable connection, but they also use just the ADSL Mode G.Dmt which will also lower your speed to otherwise being on ADSL 2+

Thanks, I didn't know that. sort of makes all the posts about snr tweaking a bit pointless thoughTomken wrote:BT's DLM (SRA ?) overrides any SNR tweaks you set as other members have found when they've tried them.

Make sure you use http://192.168.1.254/snr.html and not http://192.168.1.254/snr.cgimpooley wrote:Hi all
