7800NX VPN error

Post by ffiren »

Hi,

I'm trying to establish a VPN connection from home to work. I've never managed to get an L2TP over IPSec connection work, but I have managed PPTP in the past. I'm running windows server 2008 RC2 at work and think everything is set up correctly at that end but as mentioned, have never managed to get the L2TP over IPSec work.

PPTP worked fine from home using any client I threw at it. I recently changed my router to a 7800NX and have not been able to establish a connection since. I've forwarded the ports to my home server but to no avail. There must be something that I'm over looking. I need to be able to establish the VPN from several different devices at home although the Virtual Server tab in the router firmware requires a specific destination IP address. Is there a VPN pass through mode?

Swapping out the 7800NX for the old router makes everything work as before. It must be a simple configuration issue....

The Bipac 7800NX is not a model we sell in the UK, and hence our support is limited, please contact your local vendor for support

So you can't offer any suggestions because the router was purchased overseas despite being redirected by Billion tech support? (want a ticket number?)

It's clearly using the same chipset as the other 7800 series... Bit disappointing really. :(
