Switching to Sky

Post by Bullstein »

I've been with BE Unlimited for a few years but they have been bought by Sky and the switchover happens next week

I was a bit perturbed by what I read about Sky not allowing 3rd party routers but I realise now that they have removed this and are allowing 3rd party routers now

Good news :)

But does anyone have any information on settings etc for using the bipac 7800n with Sky ADSL?

Try following the attached screen shot, use the basic menu to ensure the router saves and reboots once the change is made

Damn

I had this working but gaming was a bit jumpy so I tried to use google dns servers which wouldn't allow me to connect to Internet at all - and have totally screwed things up

I cannot for the life of me get the billion to factory reset back to the first setup

In particular the "obtain dns automatically" still shows google dns even if in try and change up the previous (working) Sky dns - I can't change it from google dns to sky - it just reverts back to google each time

So I'm stuck here guys

Try a hard reset using the reset pin hole on the back of the unit, you will need a paper clip/pin to perform this, and you need to hold down the reset button for 10 seconds. Once done use the 'Basic Menu >> WAN' to reconfigure the device to ensure the router reboots after making WAN changes.
