I've just had BT fit in fibre optics on our line and he said with his machines that we should get about 80mbps download and 15mbps upload (when he installed it). I've just set my router all up with the EWAN port and put in all the details and I have internet access. I ran a speed test and my upload is at a steady 15mbps but my download has is at 1.6mbps and will not go above or below that. I think something is limiting my speed drastically on my 7800N router. My speed before the install on ADSL was 2.6mbps so I'm assuming something to do with EWAN has restricted me. I'm not sure what though as I have no QoS running and i'm running a direct ethernet to the router. I also tried factory settings and applying my login details and still no use. Any Ideas anyone as the line says its giving him 80mbps.

Never seen such a low download speed when using fibre, if you connect your computer to the open reach modem, and dial in with PPPOE (using the same username and password that is set within the 7800N) does the same issue occur?Peskywaabbit wrote:I've just had BT fit in fibre optics on our line and he said with his machines that we should get about 80mbps download and 15mbps upload (when he installed it). When using QOS, the speed should not be that low, (base rate is 30mbps) so I don't think that is the issue

Re: Download speed limited to 1.6mbps?
Thanks for helping, I tried connecting in my PC up to the BT Openreach modem and got no response at all. I wasn't even able to get to a login page, with either 192.168.0.1 or 192.168.1.254 (which are the ones that usually work for me and routers) Yeah I'm really stumped on this and don't know what to do. I also tried a BT infinty router plugged in after the modem and it gave 1.6mb/s download and about 10mbp/s upload. So strange.

If the BT homehub is giving the same result, next step will be to contact BT, so they can investigate further, it will be best to leave the BT homehub in place while BT investigate.Peskywaabbit wrote:Thanks for helping, I tried connecting in my PC up to the BT Openreach modem and got no response at all.
