7800N with BT Infinity

Post by Frapple »

Hi guys, I've followed both of these guides but not having any luck getting connected...

http://www.billion.uk.com/esupport/inde ... re-network
viewtopic.php?f=9&t=39

I'm unsure which port to plug the cable into (the red modem one or a lan port on the BT HH) I tried both but I get the same result. Just EWAN Connecting... followed by 'No response'

Here's my settings...

Please help!! I want my wifi range back!

You connect the BT VDSL modem ( not the HH3) to your Billion router.

Lan1 port on modem to the EWAN port on the 7800N.

I've only got two things, the homehub and the Billion 7800N. I have the Unlimited BT Infinity 2 package...?

What's the BT VDSL Modem?

Ah, I have a HH5 which had a built in VDSL modem.

Anyway I can use the 7800N with it?

If you wish to use the 7800N as a router you can setup the device in EWAN mode, connected to the HH5

If you wish to use the 7800N as wireless hub switch, change the IP address of the 7800N to 192.168.2.254, disable the DHCP and then plug a connection from the HH5 to any of the LAN ports on the 7800N, restart your PC and you should get a IP address through the 7800N from your HH5, so you 7800N should be working as a wireless/hub switch

This would be my preferred solution - how would I go about doing this.

I followed the two guides in the original post but without any luck.

Try the following steps

1. Change the IP address of either the BT HH5 or the 7800N, as they are using the same IP address
2. Run through the quick start option, on the 7800N, setting the WAN to 'EWAN' and protocol to 'Obtain A IP address automatically'
3. The WAN IP address the 7800N gets should be assigned from the HH5, so you can then DMZ this WAN IP

I hope this helps :D
