Just to keep this updated, support have been unable to find any fault with the stats & the same slow down occurred with the Open DNS servers yesterday.

I've now replaced the Billion with a Thomson 585 loaned from my ISP. We'll see what Tuesday brings...

Just another update.

The Thomson has now been up for more than six days without any intervention from me. Billion have agreed to replace the 7800N under warranty but I'm not convinced that's the answer. Will report back when the replacement has been in situ for a few days.

A contact of mine has had similar problems with another Billion. Seems like some have an issue handling noise or local interference. His is also being replaced.

It's unlikely to be down to the router, as said more likely to be down to the weakest link in the chain the copper pair from your home to exchange, and the slow downs are quite possibly down to some sort of local interference that is able to pass into the bt line plant, only way to get that fixed is via your isp, they need to request a SFI engineer visit, but as you according to the attenuation figures are located some distance from the exchange then finding and eliminating the source/s is like a needle in a haystack I'm afraid, but you never know , packet loss coupled with a very high busts of errors would cause the web browsing to pause as the connection to the server would be lost /interupted,

Well after some three months of no issues, the problem has returned. Only difference now if that it's every two days instead of three.

First thought would a driver problem but on both wired and wireless and having just had three months trouble free.....?

Do you have an ADSL faceplate or Iplate fitted to your master socket as the ADSL plate will give better screening and fitting an ADSL High Speed cable between the socket and router may also help.

Have you got the cache set to clear when closing down the net or have you tried this while browsing when it happens, instead of rebooting the router ?

Plug in just a corded phone when this occurs, dial 1 and listen for any noise (such as crackling etc), before the auto voice kicks in and any would point to a line fault which could be intermittent, but on such a regular basis.....?

You could also try enabling Phyr and what is your MTU set at in both pc and router ?
