Every three days, the loading of web pages slows to the point were they will not load completely. The more servers that a web page pulls data from, the more likely it is to hang. The "cure" is to soft reboot (not power-cycle) the 7800N. Then everything is fine again for another three days or so & so the cycle continues.
This happens with multiple PCs, OSs & browsers.
Ethernet & WiFi.
There are no extensions off the master socket & the filter has been replaced.
Zen tell me it cannot be their service & my troubleshooting shows it cannot be anything my side. The Billion has been replaced by the retailer. The Billion replaced a Netgear DG834N which was also dying which I think may well have been the same problem. The only thing in common between the routers is a Broadcom chipset but I can't find anyone else having this issue.
Has anyone else seen this behaviour?

Hi rbz5416
I have not had any issues with my 7800N, the only time I have seen this issue is when I had line problems with my old ISP (UKonline)

If you have a NTE5 master socket, have you tried running this from the test socket.
Have you also checked via telnet what the error rate and SNRMs are when normal compared to when this occurs and asked your ISP to check your line on these days.
Don't know if it may be worth trying different channels as it could be a local interference issue, but that sort of thing usually occurs at about the same time on a daily basis and not so prevalent when wired, as being my experience.

I haven't but then I have no extensions off of the socket.Tomken wrote:If you have a NTE5 master socket, have you tried running this from the test socket.
Wasn't aware of these stats until support advised me today. I've sent them the current readings & will do so again when it dies next. There are currently CRC & ES figures in the thousands but I've no idea what that means.Tomken wrote:Have you also checked via telnet what the error rate and SNRMs are when normal compared to when this occurs and asked your ISP to check your line on these days.

When the problem occurs I can still access my internal network by both WiFi & ethernet without any issues so it does appear to be solely related to the ADSL connection.Tomken wrote:Don't know if it may be worth trying different channels as it could be a local interference issue, but that sort of thing usually occurs at about the same time on a daily basis and not so prevalent when wired, as being my experience.

Re: Internet Slows Every Three Days
Just wondering if this could be something to do with the DLM, given the high number of HECs/CRCs - the DLM can kick in when these pass a certain threshold.
Was it your ISP you sent these stats off to, because the upstream SNR looks strange as it shouldn't be that high.
If you have raised this with your ISP, then they should be monitoring it, not sure if a profile change would resolve if you aren't getting any disconnects and you're probably already on a slow enough speed as it is, with that Attenuation.
Can't understand how there aren't any FECs (Forced Error Corrections) as you would normally get these when there is a lag.

I've no idea what DLM is!
My ISP is apparently monitoring for latency via ping to the router. Their tests show no changes when I had the last slowdown but I've just sent them the figures.
The SNR values are constant though. They're not deteriorating when the problem occurs.
Appreciate your input.

The DLM is the ISP's automated monitor that will correct the profile to maintain stability due to excess errors.
The profiles are (with TalkTalk) 6,9,12 or 15dB and can be either Interleaved (for stability) or Fastpath which gives the gamers better latency.

Ah right. I'm pretty sure that switching to interleaved was something that was tried some time back & made no difference.

You might find it helpful to install Routerstats or Routerstats-lite (the latter is easier) and leave it running to monitor the status of your internet connection over a period. This might give a clue as to what it happening.

Thanks for that.roseway wrote:You might find it helpful to install Routerstats or Routerstats-lite (the latter is easier) and leave it running to monitor the status of your internet connection over a period. This might give a clue as to what it happening.
I'm hoping to hear back from Billion support today regarding the stats I provided yesterday while the problem existed. If they don't have any answers I've managed to secure the loan of one of ISPs approved routers so shall give that a go. Can't do any harm to do some monitoring as well though as presumably the noise margins displayed in the GUI & available via Telnet are simply snapshots at that moment.
