Hi, I'm looking for help on enabling MAC filtering as I want to restrict internet access to certain times on a PC connected via Ethernet. I'm currently stuck with the message "No Bridge WAN service found. A bridge WAN service is needed to configure this service." on the MAC Filter page.
I'm currently with BT Infinity (FTTC), but moving to Plusnet Fibre next week. I wanted to get the 800 R2 setup before then, which has been a journey so far.
I initially tried to setup using Easy Sign On following the manual and selected ATM (ADSL) as Layer 2 interface. This failed and I manually got it working following some instructions I found on the web:
3. Click on 'Configuration >> WAN >> WAN Service'
4. Edit the profile listed under 'PTM Interface' by clicking on 'Edit'
5. Change the 'Type' to 'PPPOE' if needed
6. Check the '802.1P Priority' is '0' and the '802.1Q VLAN ID' is 101
7. Enter your SSE broadband username and password in the sections provided, (eg 9DigitNumber-energy@ssebb.co.uk)
8. Click 'Apply'
9. Click on 'Advanced Setup > Default Gateway' send 'pppoa0' over to 'Available Routed WAN Interfaces' so that only 'ppp1.1' remains in 'Selected Default Gateway Interfaces'
10. Click 'Apply'
11. Click on 'Advanced Setup > DNS'
12. With 'Select DNS Server Interface from available WAN interfaces' checked, send 'pppoa0' over to 'Available WAN Interfaces' so that only 'ppp1.1' remains in 'Selected DNS Server Interfaces'
13. Click 'Apply' - You should now be able to get online
This worked and the MAC Filtering option under security worked as I tested it out.
I then stuffed it all up trying to change the DNS settings and got the BT issue that blocks all pages unless you use their DNS servers. In the end I decided to download the latest firmware and factory reset.
The second installation using Easy Set Up I chose PTM (VDSL) and this time the configuration completed successfully, but now I can't added MAC Filtering due to this message. I can see I can add it to the Wireless Network, but I need to control access to an Ethernet connected PC.
Any idea how I re-enable MAC filtering? I have little understanding of all of the technical terms on the screens, so please don't get too techie!
Attached are some screenshots of the current set up.
Thanks in advance. Graham

Try using the 'Time Restriction' option found under 'Configuration >> Security >> Time Restriction'
