Billion BiPAC 8800AXL R2 - What An Improvement

Post by Grimers »

Hi guys!

I received the new Billion BiPAC 8800AXL R2 today! I have to say, it's some device! It's a lot bigger than the previous version and the G.INP counters error has been fixed! Thanks very much for doing this! I also like the black coating and the addition of the external attenae, which make it look very powerful! Not bad for the price! :D

Thanks for the feedback, the device should be on sale at amazon

https://www.amazon.co.uk/Billion-AC1600 ... 8800AXL+R2

https://www.comms-express.com/products/ ... ll-router/ (cheaper option)

If you fancy leaving a nice review on Amazon for us that would be really helpful. :)

No problem! I bought mine from Broadband Buyer as that was the cheapest stockist I could find at the current time. It seems that other stockists are selling it at more competitive prices now.

I have left a review. One slight problem, my device was shipped with the WiFi channel "36" on the 2.4GHz network. This caused all of my WiFi enabled devices to either not show or be unable to connect to the network, however after changing the channel to "Auto" the issue was fixed.

Thanks for posting a review much appreciated :D

I have just checked the latest firmware 2.52.d5, and default wireless 2.4ghz channel was 6, for 5ghz it was 36, I connected my phone to each band without any issues, so what ever the problem was 2.52.d5 will hopefully resolve it

No problem! :)

Whoops, sorry! I got the channels mixed up! That's interesting, as mine has been running that firmware since the start! Well, it works now. LOL.

Just curious, who came up with the design of this? I think it looks brilliant! A great overhaul compared to the previous revision.

Ah, interesting thanks.

Another more major issue, we're finding that the WiFi isn't as strong as the previous revision. I have installed the external attenae, which I thought would make the signal better than without, the router is in the same location as where the previous revision was and we've not changed anything in the house. Do you have any tips on how to improve it?

Thanks!

All I can suggest is try changing channels, normally the 'Transmit Power' by default is set to 100%,
