Hi,
I have recently changed from a NetGear D7000 to 8800AXL R2 - mostly to eliminate the possibility that the NEtgear router was faulty...
I have also been having issues with my fibre broadband over the past few weeks - but whereas with the D7000 it was fairly obvious how to check when the VDSL went up or down / and note any line errors etc - I am not sure what I should be checking on the 8800AXL
I can see System UpTime under Device information - but I suspect this is just how long the router has been powered on.
I can also see Connection Time under WAN - but I am not sure this truly correlates to when we have lost internet activity. E.g. it currently says 2:13:27 - but we lost internet connection from both wired and wireless devices just under an hour ago.
Also, under Statistics->xDSL - can someone please advise which of these might suggest problems with the Fibre connection? Or any where else?
Also, under System Log - why does the time show as Jan 1 00:00 - rather than the true date and time? Is there a specific entry which indicates a VDSL disconnect? And how to determine when it happened - if the date and time are Jan 1 00:000 etc?
FYI I have FTTC connection with PlusNet. I have been having several issues with my broadband and telephone line over the past year or so.
Many Thanks for any help.

I would suggest upgrading the latest firmware (attached) with this firmware you need to upgrade and reset back to factory default settings to ensure all changes within the firmware are implemented correctly. (do not restore settings from previous firmware builds)harry66 wrote: ↑Sun Dec 31, 2017 2:14 pm Hi,

The date should change within the system once the router has connected to the internet (or you can manually sync the time, by clicking on the sync button found next to the Date/Time.
The Status >>WAN page will show you the current PPP uptime (internet up time)
Please post a screen shot of your 'Statistics >> xDSL' page so I can check you line out

Hi Billion fan, what does 'd7' offer over 'd5', and should I install it?
PS; Happy new year!

Re: 8800AXL R2 - how to check VDSL uptime / line errors etc?
Hi billion_fan,
Thanks for the offer of going over my stats.
However, the problems seem to be intermittent - and I was hoping I could learn the basics for myself - so I dont need to post something here each time I get a problem.
I will try the new firmware this weekend - as I wont have time during the week to reset the setting etc from scratch. I have a bunch of reserved IPs and so on.
Cheers!

The d7 firmware has a new wireless driver, hence it is recommended to upgrade your device and reset back to factory default settings to ensure all changes within the firmware are implemented correctly, and manually reconfigure the device again, do not restore settings from previous firmware builds)
Attached is a link that will help explain more about the DSL stats

Re: 8800AXL R2 - how to check VDSL uptime / line errors etc?
Hi Billion_Fan. After upgrading to the 'd7' firmware, my SNR dropped from ~20 to 7.2, with the attainable rate dropping from ~120,000 to 88000. Was it because the 'd5' firmware was showing incorrect values?

Not that I am aware of as the DMT code was the same.

Hi @billion_fan,
Are the stats below good or bad? I read the linked page - but still not sure...
Downstream Upstream
SNR Margin (dB) 6.4 15.3
Attenuation (dB) 13.6 0.0
Output Power (dBm) 13.0 3.8
Attainable Rate (Kbps) 79184 29051
Rate (Kbps) 78618 19999
Is there any other stats I need to share?
I am on a 76Mb package with PlusNet..
Many Thanks
