8900AX-2400 Youview and Talk Talk VDSL settings

Post by Fogster »

Has anyone managed to get the IPTV channels running using this router? I have been playing around today to try and get this working but have not had much joy.

My connection is running with Talk Talk VDSL, so connecting on IP over internet. I have searched through the forum for details and found the guide for BT Vision on the 8800NL. I followed this as closely as I could with the 8900AX interface, creating the bridge but once completed this seemed to lock up the router and I could not login again so had to reset back to factory setings.

I then found another guide about setting up the interfacing grouping, so I redid the BT Visions settings above and then setup the interface grouping. This allowed me to get IPTV working on the youview box, but I lost internet connection on all of the other devices connected to the router.

It seems to me that I would need one of the WAN interfaces still left in the default group on the interface grouping section under Group configuration, but all the guides I have read suggest these both need to be against the new IPTV group with the single ethernet port in it. When I tried leaving one of them against the default group it did not wok.

Hope this makes sense, if anyone has any ideas of what I could try that would be great help...

Attached is guide that others have used on the 8900 series (try only tagging the BR interface to group for IPTV)

Thanks for the help billion_fan. I carried out the instructions according to the guide, and then only added the WAN bridge to the IPTV group as shown in the image attached.

The wireless worked fine until the youview box connected to the internet, then all items lost the internet. The youview box found the internet but had a IP address external to my network (I assumed it would get a 192.168.2.? being in the 2nd group) and was not appearing on the DHCP status page for the router. The IPTV was working on the youview box though.

To get the internet back on the wireless I had to unplug the youview box and plug in again not connecting it to the internet.

I have created a config file for you based off d27 firmware (latest), all you have to do is load the config, and change the wireless 2.4ghz and 5ghz SSID and security key, then plug your youview box to port 4

If you aren't on firmware d27, upgrade first then load my config, then make the wireless changes, then test the you view box

Excellent, billion_fan thanks for your help. I have downloaded, renamed the wifi channels and tested out and everything is working great.

Will need to have a flick through and see where I was going wrong. Seems I have a lot to learn with this router...

I did add some bits, but from your description I think the IGMP packets were flooding all groups/ports/wifi, IGMP 'Standard Mode' should only be enabled for IPTV group so it does not effect the other wifi bands and lan ports
