7800n internet not working after FW upgrade

I installed the new update - the 1.60e and used restore to 'factory settings' . Now I find I cannot access the internet. I'm getting 'Authentication Failed' in the status field. All I've done is change the SSID and encryption to WPA2 PSK AES. Nothing else has been changed. I used the same settings when I got the Billion 7800n and that was just 'plug and play' , I thought it would be the same with this update.
Any suggestions? (I've used Chrome and IE 9 for installing the update with the same issue, I've also deleted all cookies, etc)

If you are getting 'Authentication Failed' this means the username and password for your internet connection are incorrect

Log on to your router ( http://192.168.1.254) click on 'WAN' check your username and password for your internet connection, once done click on 'Apply' and the router will save and reboot. (When making WAN changes a save a reboot is needed)

Once done check your internet conenction.

As you reset back factory default settings after the firmware upgrade you have to reconfigure your WAN settings (internet settings) and all other settings eg wireless, port forwarding, etc

just to be sure...when I changed my lousy Sky router for the better Billion, I had to go and find my 'secret' Sky username & password in order to use the Billion router - is this the route I have to go down again in order to use the Billion? Easy to do but i just wanted to be sure.

I've just gone the route of generating my Sky username & password to use the Billion - it worked. Pity I forgot about what I did last time! After resetting with the new FW I was just leaving the WAN username & password at default, but now using the old Netgear MAC/Serial number to generate my Skydsl password it has unlocked the Billion. Cheers billion_fan for jogging my memory, much appreciated mate.

Just done the 1.06e upgrade, and selected "current settings" for the restart. Thereafter no broadband connection - the power/ethernet/wireless lights came on, but not the ADSL light (not even flashing). I tried soft reboot, cold reboot, rerun the upgrade, but still nothing. Eventually tried a restart to factory defaults, and that worked, but of course I had to make all the connection selections (o2, so some extra ones), wireless and wireless security selections over again. I've done a couple of upgrades before to current settings with no problems. What's different this time?

Not sure, but it is always advised to reset back to factory default settings after the firmware upgrade, to make sure all changes are implemeted correctly.

It is never advised to restore settings from previous firmware builds.

Maybe there was a change in the ADSL code, that needed a hard reset to take effect?

Thanks for that - you may well be right. However for innocents like myself the fact that the upgrade firmware process gives the option to restart with current settings implies that it should work! I'll know next time.

After a firmware upgrade, you should reset the unit back to factory default settings, once resetted manually reconfigure your device again using the quick start option.

That's pretty much what I've done

I invoke the firmware upgrade
When that completes, I use the QuickStart option supplying just
my ISP ADSL username
my ISP ADSL password

It always completes with the message
'WAN fail'

I don't know how to get past this, so any help much appreciated
