OpenDNS - 7800

Post by evansj57 »

Is there a way to force the use of the DNS settings on the router, which I have set up for OpenDNS?

I have seen reference to redirecting UDP port 53:

1. Set up a rule disallowing all outgoing traffic on port 53
2. Set up another rule ABOVE the last one in the order of precedence which allows outgoing traffic to the OPENDNS IPs. I just do the range from 208.67.220.220 ~ 208.67.222.222 as I find that's good enough.

Thanks for the advice.

However, I set up the attached rules but they don't seem to work. eg, I can still browse from my iPad using the Google DNS servers.

Try changing the port to external port

Thanks, I changed to external port 53, and I also changed the filtering to 3 rules, and it seems to be working: if I use a the Google DNS settings in the iPad, any browsing just times out.
