samsung tv not getting to the internet via 7800N

Post by juro0304 »

I have a PC desktop directly cabled to my desktop. I also have several wireless devices using the router. None of these have problems accessing the Internet.
I recently bought a Samsung TV which has Internet access and is also cabled directly in to the router. When I first plugged it in I did have access but recently it seems to be blocked. I can stream content from my PC to the TV so the router and cables are working. I don't thing I have the firewall configured or any port forwarding.
Does anyone have any idea ideas on what is causing this?

As the connection between your TV and 7800N seems fine and other wireless devices are working fine (which is irreverent as you are connecting with a ethernet cable) it would seem the issue must be with the internet settings for the TV.

As streaming works within the internal network (PC>> 7800N >> TV) it might be your gateway settings on the TV that might be incorrect.

If your 7800N IP address is set to 192.168.1.254, your gateway on your TV should be set to the same. Also check the DNS settings on the TV and make sure they are pointing to the router, or set to a static DNS server eg 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4 (google DNS servers)

I hope this helps

Hi taelinn

Let start by welcoming you to our forum.

Now to get down to the point, on your samsung TV are you able to get a IP address from the router?

Can your TV see the wireless SSID of the router?

Are other wireless devices working with the 7800N?

When I bought my Samsung UE55D8000YU, it almost always failed to obtain a DHCP reply from my DrayTek 2820n (my combined router and ADSL modem) via Wi-Fi, and on the rare occasions it succeeded, it could barely stream video from the Internet. Every other device in my house (3 mobile telephones, 3 computers, 1 printer, 2 video game consoles, and 1 Apple TV) could access my LAN and the Internet via Wi-Fi without any problems whatsoever.

I contacted Samsung after making the alarming discovery that the television was actually disrupting my DrayTek 2820n's Wi-Fi signal whenever it attempted to establish a Wi-Fi connection, which made me suspect that the television's wireless transmitter was faulty. The engineer they sent said that the problem I was experiencing was common, and that there was no known solution to it.

I decided to have the TV replaced, but the problem persisted. I then decided to give up after considering that, even if it worked perfectly, I still wouldn't use the television's software often due to its low quality.

After one or two months, Samsung released a firmware update that claimed to solve the problem with the television's Wi-Fi connectivity. Installing the update caused a significant improvement, although the television still struggles to stream high-definition video.

In conclusion, the cause of the problem you're experiencing with your Samsung television is most likely due to an inherent flaw in the television's hardware or software. If a firmware update doesn't solve it, then there isn't much you can do.

Have you tried setting up static IP for the TV in the router?

Hi!

I'm wondering if it would be worth it to get 3D glasses (mainly for pc gaming) for my Samsung HL-T4675s because it's only a 720p? Will there be problems with ghosting or anything else that will distract from the experience? Also I have no idea which are the best glasses for my tv. I've heard some ghost more than others, some are darker than others.. it's all very confusing. Thanks for listening!

This isn't an appropriate place to ask that question. I suggest you post it on AVForums or Digital Spy instead. :)
