Hello
I have connected my old 7800N to my crappy SKY SR102 and all seemed fine until i started downloading from newsgroups. I kept getting many incompletes in every download.
When i reconnected directly to the SR102 Lan and downloaded the same files,no incompletes. I'm downloading at about 80MB/sec do I have to slow down the connection between the two routers or should it work at full tilt. Any idea's would be welcome.
Cheers
Dan

Not really sure as you are running behind double NAT, you can try slowing down the connection (by limiting the number of slots) and a check the results. I assume the par's won't help as the files are too incomplete.sedagive wrote:Hello

Also did you DMZ the WAN IP address the 7800N gets from the SR102?? (DMZ must be done within the SR102)
When I was using the 7800N with ADSL everything was fine (other then when Sky took over Be, my newserver/usenet speeds were capped to around 200kb) so I left them and joined Virgin, now using the 7800DXL with the Virgin superhub, (modem mode) and have no issues with news servers. (I will never go back now, 150mbps with Virgin is super fast, and they provide free news servers, but the down side is 4 day retention)

I hadn't set up the DMZ on the SR102 and doing so seems to have fixed the problem so thanks very much.
I use Eweka for newsgroups which is only about 20 euro's for 3 months and the retention is about 2 years.
I will probably quit SKY after the year contract due to their crap router. Virgin sounds tempting although my neighbour on Virgin lost his email service for 2 days recently!
But hey no one's perfect
