I was wondering if anyone has experienced similar problem with the 7800N WiFi and perhaps I'm missing something obvious before I contact support to arrange a return/replacement.
Had the 7800N running fine for the past 6 months, however yesterday evening neither my laptop or the iPads would connect to the wireless network - bit odd as nothing had changed and they had been working fine the previous evening. Checked with inSSIDer and there was another wireless network on the same channel (11) but a very weak signal - changed the channel on the router but no difference, still not working.
This morning I have updated the router with the latest firmward and reset to factory default as per the instructions and reset up the configuration - left the wireless settings alone, so they were the out the box defaults (SSID wlan-ap). Again, nothing would connect. The green LED on the front of the router is lit and occasionally flashes when the iPad tries to connect but just get an error on the iPad. Nothing useful to help diagnose (thanks Apple!).
Reconnected a Netgear WAP to the network and everything is connecting to that now, without any issues, so it would appear to be either configuration or hardware on the 7800N router - I'm leaning towards hardware issue as the configuration hadn't changed when it stopped working.
Anybody have any thoughts or suggestions I can try before going through the RMA process?
Thanks
Paul

Re: 7800N Wireless Stopped Working
I had wireless issues with my first Billion 7800N in August 2011 and had to return it, they sent out a replacement which worked fine. But since last week the same thing is happening again to my 2nd 7800N, laptops and phones in the house were getting an intermittent connection or none at all. Like you, I also tried a spare router and wifi devices connected fine to any of the channels. I haven't requested an RMA yet, but I followed a suggestion from another thread here to switch the wireless channel to 7 and it has been fine since.
Try switching to Channel 7. There's something special about this particular channel when my usual channels of 1 6, and 11 won't work anymore.

Re: 7800N Wireless Stopped Working
I'd just RMA it immediately. The wireless cards on the 7800n seem less than robust.
I have just had my original 7800n returned to me today after sending it in for a new wireless card - it died, in exactly the same manner as yours appears to have done, after working perfectly for 6 weeks.
I also noted that the dead wireless card seemed to cause some of the LAN ports to stop working properly as well; this was also confirmed by Billion when I RMA'd it.
On the plus side, my unit was repaired and turned around very quickly (I posted it off on Monday, returned today - Thursday)

Funny you should mention that - the LAN port in use was going mental this morning almost like a broadcast storm. I've put the support ticket through and have to get logs for the support team before they will arrange the RMA.oxygendebt wrote:I'd just RMA it immediately.
