Hello
I have a new BiPAC 8800AXL arriving in a few days time, which hopefully, will solve the problems I have been having with slow/unreliable data transmission (wired and wireless) with my DrayTek 2860N+. Plusnet have tested my line and say all is well at their end, so I have high hopes for my new router. I want to set it up to use my OpenDNS account, but I could do with some guidance as to what exactly I need to change in the router settings, as I believe there is more than one way to do this with this particular router. Also, I want to make sure that the DNS settings can't be by-passed via the port 53 route (I'm not an expert on that, but I believe that unless appropriate precautions are taken, IT-savvy users can easily by-pass restrictions by changing settings on their PCs). Can someone advise me on exactly what I shall need to do please?
Thanks

I am not sure about the port thing - but this is how I set up my DNS settings on mine:Brian_E wrote:Hello

Re: Setting up OpenDNS on the BiPAC 8800AXL
I use opendns. This is what I did (same process on my old 7800DX):
1. Configuration -> LAN: check that "Use Router's setting as DNS Server" is ticked, apply
2. Configuration -> Security -> Parental Control Provider, enter your opendns network name, account and password (you need to set these up first) then apply
3. Advanced Setup -> DNS, select the bottom option "Use the IP Addresses provided by Parental Control Provider" and apply
Done! Check the status summary screen and the opendns addresses should now be visible.
Hope this helps.
